You've heard about the show. You've read about the star-studded cast. You've seen the first-look photos. Now you finally get to watch Eric Bana in action as the irresistible John Meehan in Bravo's new series Dirty John.
We've got your first look at Bana as the charismatic and enigmatic character who falls in love with a woman named Debra Newell, who will be played by Connie Britton in the series, in this twisted tale of romance, deceit, and manipulation in the above clip. Don't be fooled by John's charm and good looks as he's pouring his heart out to a special someone. You'll soon realize that not everything is as it seems when it comes to John.
The scariest part of all? Dirty John is based on a true story that was chronicled in The Los Angeles Times and then a hit podcast by the same name. So when the words "he could happen to you" pop up at the end of this clip, it should definitely send a chill down your spine.
The complexity of the characters and story of Dirty John was a huge reason Bana, who also serves as an executive producer on the series along with Britton, signed on to the project. "I just thought the material was potentially very exciting and complicated. I think it's a very challenging storyline for viewers. It brings up a lot of issues," Bana told The Daily Dish in May. "And my co-star Connie Britton was already attached, so that made the decision a little bit easier. But I was fascinated by the podcast and thought it would make some interesting television."
In addition to Bana and Britton, the cast of Dirty John includes Jean Smart as Debra's mother Arlane Hart, Julia Garner and Juno Temple as Debra's daughters Terra and Veronica, respectively, Kevin Zegers as Debra's nephew Toby, Keiko Agena as Debra's co-worker Nancy, John Karna as Terra's boyfriend Jimmy, Sprague Grayden as John's first wife Tonia, and Cliff Chamberlain as John's best man from his first marriage Ethan.
Dirty John is set to premiere on Bravo later this year.
